As a small team of staff, our volunteers are absolutely vital to help us to look after the Tarras Valley Nature Reserve, and really appreciate all of the help from those already involved. There are a range of different ways to get involved, and activities to suit all interests and abilities, everyone is welcome!

If you fancy getting out and about, meeting other people, spending a couple of hours doing something active outdoors, we have a regular volunteer group that does a range of different practical conservation tasks. These include everything from tree planting, looking after our tree nursery, invasive species control, removing old fencing, and repairing drystone walls.

As we survey the reserve for the biodiversity levels to help us establish a baseline, there is also an opportunity to get involved with, or undertake self-led, ecological surveys. To help develop our ongoing understanding of the nature reserve, we welcome all survey results, from birds and mammals to mosses and lichens, and everything in between!

If you have other interests, or can think of another way you would like to be involved, please get in touch.

To keep up to date with volunteering activity on the reserve, please join our Facebook group – Tarras Valley Volunteers | Facebook or email kat@tarrasvalleynaturereserve.co.uk

We are also able to facilitate other volunteering opportunities, such as work experience placements or corporate volunteering days. If you would like to find out more, please email kat@tarrasvalleynaturereserve.co.uk
