Benefit nature and your team by spending a day in the beautiful landscape of the Tarras Valley, supporting and learning about the largest community-owned nature reserve in the South of Scotland!

Why volunteer with us?

Whether your group is meeting ESG targets or just wants a day out in nature, we can cater to all groups. We are very keen for the sessions to be inclusive and open to everyone, so if there are any specific accessibility requirements for the group, please get in touch and we can discuss what accommodations can be made.

As a small charity, work undertaken by volunteers is crucial for achieving our goals of restoring lost and damaged habitats across the reserve, meaning your time volunteering with us will be invaluable in supporting wildlife and ecosystem restoration. Running corporate volunteering sessions is part of our income-generation effort for the reserve, and any money brought in through the sessions will go directly into our education and engagement project, allowing us to continue to work with local schools, to ensure all of the children in the community have the opportunity to engage with and learn about the land.

Activities and Itinerary

Activities
We can offer a range of activities, tailored to suit the needs of your group. Please note that practical activities are seasonally dependent, so we may not be able to fulfil all requests.
Possible activities include:
  • Tree planting – creating and expanding woodland habitats
  • Clearing invasive species – species such as Sitka spruce need to be cleared from the moorland, where it has self-seeded
  • Fence removal – improving access by removing old and unneeded pheasant and stock fencing
We can also incorporate bushcraft or environmental education activities upon request.
Example Itinerary
10 am – Meeting and introduction
10:30 am – First activity (eg. tree planting)
12:30 pm – Lunch break
1:30 pm – Second activity (eg. clearing Sitka spruce)
3 pm – End of session
Start/end times; introduction content, and practical activities can all be tailored to suit your group.

Cost
The suggested cost is £50 per person, based on a minimum group size of 6 individuals, which covers the running costs of the session.
We can also offer a ‘pay as you feel’ price to ensure it is accessible to all organisations. Please get in touch if you wish to discuss this option.
The corporate volunteering session are part of our project income generation and will help towards the continuation of our education and engagement programme, enabling local children to benefit from outdoor learning.
